Policymakers can integrate Nature-based Solutions (NbS) by incorporating them into urban development plans, climate adaptation strategies and by working with local communities and scientists.

Within NL2120 we see that through the active role of business, innovations can be applied quickly, both in the Netherlands and internationally. Education and nature organisations ensure scale-up and the government uses the new knowledge for more effective policy.

Major obstacles include lack of funding, limited knowledge about the benefits of Nature-based Solutions (NbS), and the need for collaboration between different sectors and stakeholders.

From NL2120, we address these obstacles. This led to the creation of the current partnership NL2120. In it, governments, knowledge institutions and companies work together to set up NbS solutions.

Examples include restoring mangroves to protect coastlines from storm surges, building green roofs in cities, and restoring rivers to reduce flood risks.
